Before work is priced or scheduled
Collect the asset type, construction or installation date, drawings, earlier survey records, work description and location. Unknown answers should remain unknown rather than being replaced by assumptions.
Before materials are disturbed
A document review and site inspection are distinct from laboratory analysis. A qualified person determines the appropriate scope and whether unknown content must be analyzed or handled under another compliant approach.
Before work starts
Confirm reporting, notice, display, record and local-government requirements with the responsible parties. Keep evidence of the survey scope and any inaccessible areas.
